My name is Klaus Vollrath, I grew up in Luxembourg in a multilingual environment. I completed my studies in metallurgy at the RWTH Technical University in Aachen with an engineering degree. Then I spent seven years as a researcher at the Technical University of Munich and at the research center of the Thyssen Guss group in Gelsenkirchen. After the closure of this institution, I founded my own design office specializing in the field of computer technology services. After the sale of this company, I worked for four years as a technical and sales engineer for a company specializing in the field of robotic or digitally controlled automation systems for pressure foundries. I was responsible for Northern Germany, France, Benelux, Great Britain and Scandinavia. At the beginning of 1994, I changed employers to take charge of editing the technical and scientific journals published by the professional federation of German foundry engineers (VDG). At the end of 1997, I founded my own office, offering the writing of articles for technical journals.
In my work, I benefit from my experience with several foreign languages acquired during my youth. I am able to easily change languages between German, French and English. This allows me, for example, to conduct an interview with a French interlocutor and to write an article in German, without any intermediate steps. I preferably translate my texts myself and have them revised by professional translators native to the language of publication. This approach guarantees texts whose accuracy in the use of technical terms is complemented by a linguistic quality that meets the reader's expectations.
